Edmonton CC won the 2009 Howe Cup

On June 14, the best 2 teams of Howe Cup tournament (Edmonton CC & Rising Stars CC) played the final and dozens turned up to watch this game.

Edmonton batted first and, thanks to a great team effort, posted a competive total of 178/6 after 20 overs. Ginni top scored with 69 with 5 sixes and Fahad, Jawad and Wahid chipped in to raise the above par score on VP ground. Shehzad was the bowler of note for Rising Stars taking 3 wickets for 29 runs in his 4 overs.

Batting second, Rising stars had a great start to their innings. Raghu scored 19 off 7 balls and Shehzad and Raheel carried on that momentum. Gurjeet took the first wicket of Raghu to peg Rising Stars back and after that Shahzad was the key batsman. The teams were even after 10 overs but Edmonton CC kept taking wickets at regular intervals and Rising Stars eventually lost their momentum after the fall of Shehzad's wicket and ended up at 147/9 after 20 overs. Ginni was the best bowler taking 4 wickets for 20 runs in his 4 overs. He was ably supported by Jawad and Nauman. Wahid took 3 good catches including that off Shehzad.

Edmonton Cricket Club won the Howe Cup Final by 30 runs.
